Assoc. Prof. Dr. AZİZ ÇATALTEPE

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Aziz Çataltepe successfully completed his medical education at Trakya University Faculty of Medicine in 1997, earning the title of Medical Doctor. He completed his specialty training at Göztepe Training and Research Hospital in 2003, becoming a Specialist in Orthopaedics and Traumatology. During his specialty training, he demonstrated his scientific competence in this field with his thesis titled “Retrograde Intramedullary Nailing in Supracondylar Femur Fractures,” prepared under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Faik Altıntaş.

Since 2019, Dr. Aziz Çataltepe has continued his academic and clinical work at Medipol Bahçelievler Hospital as a Lecturer (Assistant Professor), and he was awarded the title of Associate Professor in 2024. Throughout his career, in order to broaden his professional vision, he has attended numerous international training and certification programmes in fields such as scoliosis, shoulder and elbow surgery, paediatric orthopaedics and complex revision surgery, including the annual meetings of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS) held in the United States.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Aziz Çataltepe is one of Türkiye’s most experienced names in the discipline of Orthopaedics and Traumatology, particularly in Arthroplasty (Hip and Knee Replacements) and Trauma Surgery. Having performed thousands of successful operations throughout his career, Dr. Çataltepe has gained extensive experience in the “press-fit” technique for hip dysplasia, in screw-free and bone-graft-free implantation methods, and in complex hip and knee revision surgeries. In addition, he provides his patients with high-standard healthcare through treatment approaches that make use of sacral stress fracture management, spinal surgery (vertebroplasty/kyphoplasty) and advanced arthroscopic surgical techniques.

Known for his medical innovations and original studies contributing to the literature, Dr. Çataltepe has taken a pioneering role with his clinical research on the use of Tranexamic Acid to minimise intraoperative blood loss in hip and knee replacement surgery, as well as on advanced surgical techniques. He has made significant contributions to the international literature in specific areas such as large case series on pregnancy-related sacral stress fractures and the effects of incision length on cup positioning in hip replacement surgery.

Also active in academic leadership and teaching roles, Dr. Aziz Çataltepe contributes to the training of the new generation of physicians by giving Clinical Orthopaedics lectures at Medipol University. Having established a strong presence in the international literature through his scientific productivity, Dr. Çataltepe has more than 15 international articles in high-impact-factor journals, studies published in national peer-reviewed journals, and authorship of book chapters on important topics such as “The Use of Tranexamic Acid in Orthopaedic Surgery.
