Assoc. Prof. Dr. MEHMET TÖNGE

Assoc. Prof. Mehmet Tönge, MD was born in Isparta in 1980. He completed his medical education at Süleyman Demirel University in 2004 and his specialization in Neurosurgery at Gazi University, Ankara, between 2004 and 2011. During his specialization, he completed the annual courses of the European Association of Neurosurgical Societies (EANS). In 2008, he conducted clinical observations on intraoperative MRI at the University of Zurich, Switzerland, and received training in microneurosurgery, white matter dissection, and endovascular procedures. He completed his mandatory public service in Sinop between 2011-2012 and in Çankırı between 2012-2013. In 2013, he started working at Medipol Mega Hospital, Medipol University, Istanbul. In 2014, he received training in Functional Neurosurgery and Deep Brain Stimulation surgery at Maastricht University, Netherlands. Between 2015 and 2018, he practiced neurosurgery at various institutions and served as a consultant physician in the Gamma Knife Radiosurgery unit. Having resumed his duties at Istanbul Medipol University in 2018, Assoc. Prof. Mehmet TÖNGE, MD has been working as the Training Coordinator of the Department of Neurosurgery since 2023 and as an Associate Professor since 2024. Having worked for many years as a visiting scientist at Maastricht University, Netherlands, Assoc. Prof. Mehmet TÖNGE, MD completed his doctoral studies in Neuroscience at the same university in 2025 and received his PhD. He specializes in Functional Neurosurgery and continues his research in the fields of Neuroscience and Neurotechnology.
