Assoc. Prof. Melih Şimşek, MD was born in Edirne in 1978. He completed his medical education at Uludağ University Faculty of Medicine in 2002. Between 2003 and 2007, he fulfilled his Compulsory State Service as a general practitioner at various times in health centers, 112 Emergency Services and family medicine units affiliated with the Düzce Provincial Health Directorate. He completed his Internal Medicine residency at Kocaeli University Faculty of Medicine Hospital in 2012 and received the title of Internal Medicine Specialist. He prepared his specialty thesis titled ""Epidemiological Evaluation of Patients Diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma Followed at the Hematology Outpatient Clinic of Kocaeli University Faculty of Medicine Hospital"" under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Abdullah Hacıhanefioğlu.
After his specialization, he fulfilled his Compulsory State Service as an Internal Medicine Specialist at Doç. Dr. Yaşar Eryılmaz State Hospital between 2013 and 2014. In 2017, he completed his Medical Oncology subspecialty training at Atatürk University Faculty of Medicine. He served as an Assistant Professor at the Department of Internal Medicine of the same institution between 2017 and 2018. Afterwards, he fulfilled his Compulsory State Service at the Medical Oncology Department of Yozgat City Hospital between 2018 and 2020.
Between 2020 and 2025, he worked at the Medical Oncology Department of Bezmialem Vakıf University Hospital. At this institution, he received the title of Associate Professor in 2023 and continued his academic and clinical activities until 2025. In 2025, he moved to the Medical Oncology Department of Medipol Bahçelievler University Hospital, where he currently works as a medical oncology specialist.
In the post-specialization period, he has focused on conventional chemotherapies, targeted therapies and immunotherapies used in solid organ tumors, mainly breast cancer, gastrointestinal cancers, lung cancer and genitourinary cancers.
The work of Assoc. Prof. Şimşek, who has more than 70 scientific articles in national and international peer-reviewed journals, has received more than 200 citations in the international literature. He is a member of the Turkish Society of Medical Oncology and the Istanbul Medical Chamber.
Reflecting his academic knowledge and clinical experience in the follow-up and treatment of his patients, Assoc. Prof. Melih Şimşek aims to provide quality healthcare with an up-to-date and scientifically based approach.
