Highlights
Assoc. Prof. Nesrin Helvacı Yılmaz, MD graduated as a Medical Doctor from Hacettepe University in 2000. She completed her Neurology residency at Ankara University in 2006.
In 2007, she began her compulsory service at Mardin Nusaybin State Hospital and continued her work in 2008 at Gaziantep 27 Aralık State Hospital. Between 2010 and 2011, she worked as a neurologist at Biyofiz Nilüfer Medical Center and Ali Osman Sönmez Oncology Hospital in Bursa, and between 2011 and 2012 at Universal Aksaray Hospital in Istanbul. In October 2012, she joined the Department of Neurology at Istanbul Medipol University as an Assistant Professor and was awarded the title of Associate Professor in 2021. In 2015, she worked as an Honorary Observer in the field of Parkinson’s disease and Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) at the UCL Queen Square Institute of Neurology, National Hospital for Neurology in London. Between 2013 and 2022, she participated in numerous training programs on Deep Brain Stimulation both in Turkey and internationally.
In her field of specialization—Parkinson’s disease and movement disorders—she has led 5 TÜBİTAK projects, authored 2 book chapters, conducted 30 clinical studies, and presented 80 papers at national and international congresses. Dr. Helvacı Yılmaz continues to serve at Medipol University, where she has led the Parkinson’s and Movement Disorders Unit within the Department of Neurology and has planned Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) treatments in collaboration with the neurosurgery team.
Since September 2018, she has been serving as the Neurology Term 5 Student Education Coordinator. As of December 2022, she has been working at the Parkinson’s Disease and Movement Disorders Center (PARMER) at Istanbul Medipol University, where she develops treatment plans and provides personalized medical follow-up and care tailored to each patient.
