Assoc. Prof. Nesrin Helvacı Yılmaz MD graduated from Hacettepe University as a Medical Doctor in 2000. In 2006, she completed her specialty training at the Department of Neurology of Ankara University.
Having begun her compulsory service at Mardin Nusaybin State Hospital in 2007, Dr. Nesrin Helvacı Yılmaz continued her duty at Gaziantep 25 Aralık State Hospital in 2008. She worked as a neurology specialist at Biyofiz Nilüfer Medical Center and Ali Osman Sönmez Oncology Hospital in Bursa between 2010 and 2011, and at Istanbul Universal Aksaray Hospital between 2011 and 2012. Having started working as an Assistant Professor at the Department of Neurology of Istanbul Medipol University in October 2012, Dr. Nesrin Helvacı Yılmaz received the title of associate professor in 2021. In 2015, she worked as an Honorary Observer in Parkinson's Disease and Deep Brain Stimulation (brain pacemaker) at the UCL Queen Square Institute of Neurology, National Hospital for Neurology, London. Between 2013 and 2022, she took part in many national and international training programs on Deep Brain Stimulation (brain pacemaker).
In her area of expertise, Parkinson's Disease and Movement Disorders, she has 5 TÜBİTAK projects, 2 book chapters, 30 clinical studies and 80 papers presented nationally and internationally. Assoc. Prof. Nesrin Helvacı Yılmaz, who continues to serve at Medipol University, has managed the Parkinson's and Movement Disorders unit at the Department of Neurology throughout her tenure and has planned brain pacemaker treatment applications together with the neurosurgery team.
Since September 2018, she has continued to serve as the coordinator of Neurology education for 5th-year students. As of December 2022, she creates treatment plans for patients at the Parkinson's Disease and Movement Disorders Center (PARMER) of Istanbul Medipol University, providing each patient with the most appropriate personalized medical follow-up and treatment support.
