Highlights

Asst. Prof. Eren Toplutaş, MD was born in Bursa in 1991. He completed his undergraduate education at Bursa Uludağ University Faculty of Medicine and his Neurology specialization training at Istanbul Medipol University Faculty of Medicine, earning the title of Neurology (Brain and Nervous System Diseases) Specialist. He completed his PhD in Neuroscience at Istanbul Medipol University Institute of Health Sciences in 2025 and continues his academic career at the same university.

Toplutaş, who serves as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Neurology at Istanbul Medipol University Faculty of Medicine, also works as an educator and researcher within the university's Health Sciences and Technologies Research Institute (SABİTA) and the Clinical Electrophysiology, Neuroimaging and Neuromodulation Laboratory within REMER, as well as the Brain and Cognition Research Center (BEYKOG). His main research areas are EEG microstate analysis, resting state brain networks, disturbances of consciousness, and non-invasive neuromodulation (rTMS, tDCS, tACS) methods.

His work has been published in internationally indexed SCI/SCI-E journals such as Brain Topography and Frontiers in Neuroscience. He was among the co-authors of the international 'EEG-meta-microstates' consortium, led by Prof. Christoph M. Michel of the University of Geneva and involving leading centers worldwide, aimed at standardizing EEG microstate analysis. He has made unique contributions to his field with his studies on the effects of transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) in Alzheimer's and Parkinson's diseases and on EEG-based objective biomarkers in consciousness disorders. He has presented numerous papers at national and international neurology, clinical neurophysiology, and biophysics congresses; and has participated in research projects supported by TÜBİTAK (The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey).

Eren currently accepts patients in the Neurology department at Medipol Mega University Hospital; provides diagnostic and treatment services for a wide range of diseases, primarily epilepsy and EEG, movement disorders (Parkinson's disease), dementia and Alzheimer's disease, consciousness disorders, and stroke. Toplutaş, MD aims to provide internationally recognized healthcare services to his patients by combining his academic expertise in clinical neurophysiology with current and evidence-based approaches.
