Asst. Prof. Okan Tezgel, MD continues to see patients in the field of Orthopedics and Traumatology at Bahçelievler Medipol University Hospital in Istanbul. In his clinical practice, he applies current surgical techniques in arthroscopic (minimally invasive) surgeries, sports surgery, conventional and robotic prosthetic surgeries, revision prosthetic surgeries, deformity surgeries, limb-lengthening procedures, foot and ankle surgeries, trauma surgery, and orthobiologic treatments, tailoring treatment approaches according to the patient’s needs. His goal is to support patients’ return to daily life and sports in the healthiest way possible through accurate diagnosis, safe treatment planning, and effective rehabilitation.
Dr. Tezgel follows current approaches in the diagnosis and treatment of joint and soft tissue injuries, especially those commonly seen in active individuals and athletes, including knee, hip, shoulder, and ankle problems. With his experience in sports injuries and arthroscopic surgery, he evaluates both surgical and conservative (non-surgical) options based on the patient’s expectations and clinical findings. For suitable patients, orthobiologic treatments that support the healing process can also be integrated holistically into the treatment plan.
Dr. Tezgel began his professional career as a general practitioner at Burdur State Hospital between 2015 and 2016. From 2017 to 2022, he continued his academic and clinical work at Istanbul Bezmialem Vakıf University, deepening his expertise in orthopedics and traumatology while participating in scientific research to closely follow the latest developments in his field.
Between 2022 and 2024, Dr. Tezgel served as the clinical chief at Van Regional Training and Research Hospital, Orthopedics and Traumatology Clinic. During this period, he worked with a wide range of patients in arthroscopic surgeries, prosthetic and revision surgeries, deformity corrections, and complex fracture treatments. He gained significant experience in specialized surgeries, such as shortened hip prostheses, particularly in cases of hip osteoarthritis caused by high hip dislocation.
In 2024, Dr. Okan Tezgel resumed patient care at Bahçelievler Medipol University Hospital and Esenler Medipol Hospital. Since 2025, he has continued his work exclusively at Bahçelievler Medipol University Hospital. In January 2026, he was awarded the title of Doctor Lecturer and continues his academic duties at the Medipol University Orthopedics and Traumatology Clinic. To maintain continuous professional development, Dr. Tezgel regularly participates in domestic and international training programs and courses, closely follows current surgical approaches, and shares his experience on academic platforms as a speaker (session/invited speaker) at scientific meetings and congresses held in Turkey and abroad. Alongside these academic responsibilities, he aims to offer evidence-based and personalized treatment plans to his patients by placing scientific approaches and current treatment standards at the center of his clinical practice.
