Highlights
Prof. Faruk Hökenek, MD was born in Istanbul in 1970. He completed his medical education at Istanbul University Cerrahpaşa Faculty of Medicine in 1994. He began his specialization in Cardiovascular Surgery at Istanbul University, Istanbul Faculty of Medicine, Department of Cardiovascular Surgery in 1995 and completed it in 2001. Under the supervision of his thesis advisor, Prof. Enver Dayıoğlu, he prepared his specialization thesis titled ""Extended end-to-end anastomosis in infantile aortic coarctation.
Following his specialty, he worked from 2001 to 2003 at Memorial Şişli Hospital and from 2003 to 2013 at the Medical Park Hospitals group. He was a primary surgeon at Acıbadem Family Hospital and Acıbadem International Hospital from 2013 until 2022.
He began working at Medipol Bahçelievler University Hospital in 2022 and is currently a faculty member at Medipol University as well.
Adult cardiac surgery has been the main emphasis of his surgical experience. He has a great deal of experience performing minimally invasive heart procedures through tiny incisions, aortic aneurysm surgeries, carotid artery surgeries, coronary bypass surgeries, and heart valve surgeries and repairs.
Prof. Faruk Hökenek, MD worked with Prof. Paul Sergeant, MD at Leuven University Hospital for a period of time In 2013, to gain experience in bypass surgery on beating hearts.
Under the direction of Prof. Frederich W. Mohr, MD he performed minimally invasive mitral valve procedures at the Leipzig University Heart Surgery Hospital in 2015. . .
In order to obtain experience in minimally invasive bypass and aortic root procedures, he returned to work at the Leipzig Heart Surgery Hospital in 2018 under the direction of Prof. Michael Borger, MD.
Prof. Dr. Faruk Hökenek, MD is a member of the Turkish Society of Cardiovascular Surgery and the Istanbul Chamber of Physicians.
Prof. Dr. Faruk Hökenek, MD continues to guide his patients with his extensive surgical experience, academic knowledge, and clinical expertise, and with an ethically and scientifically based treatment approach.
