Highlights
Prof. Cengiz Erol, MD, was born in Ankara in 1970. He completed his medical education at Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine in 1994 and his residency training in Radiology at the same institution in 1999, becoming a Specialist in Radiology. His residency thesis focused on the “Study of Cerebrospinal Fluid Flow in Hydrocephalus Using Magnetic Resonance Imaging.
Following completion of his residency, he worked as the founding Radiology Specialist and Head Physician of the Radiology Department at TDV Istanbul 29 Mayıs Hospital until 2010. In 2010, he joined the Department of Radiodiagnostics at Selçuk University Faculty of Medicine as an Assistant Professor, where he established the Interventional Radiology Department and continued working until 2012
In October 2012, Prof. Erol joined the Department of Radiology at Istanbul Medipol University Faculty of Medicine. He was appointed Associate Professor in 2013 and Professor in 2018. He also obtained certification from the European Board of Interventional Radiology (EBIR). Prof. Erol currently serves as Head of the Department of Radiology at Istanbul Medipol University Faculty of Medicine.
Prof. Cengiz Erol has built his career primarily around interventional radiology and advanced cross-sectional imaging. His academic and clinical interests include interventional treatments of the liver and biliary tract, locoregional treatments for colorectal liver metastases, vascular and neurovascular interventions, cardiac and abdominal imaging, prostate imaging, oncological imaging, and AI-assisted radiological evaluation. His contributions to the field include participation in multicenter studies, publications in international peer-reviewed journals, book chapters, presentations at national and international congresses, and the training of radiology specialists.
Prof. Erol is a highly experienced and academically productive specialist in radiology and interventional radiology. He combines current scientific evidence with clinical decision-making, with a particular focus on patient safety and minimally invasive treatment approaches.
