Prof. Dr. MURAT DAYANGAÇ

Prof. Murat Dayangaç, MD was born in Kayseri in 1972. He completed his medical education at Ege University Faculty of Medicine in 1995, and then completed his General Surgery specialization at the same university in 2002, becoming a General Surgery specialist.

Due to his interest in hepatobiliary surgery, which began during his specialization training, he turned to liver surgery after his specialization and started his transplantation surgery training at the Organ Transplantation Center of Şişli Florence Nightingale Hospital in 2005. He later worked as a liver transplant surgeon at the same center and played an active role in over 1000 living donor liver transplant operations.

In 2009, he was a visiting transplant surgeon at Mayo Clinic Jacksonville (USA) and in 2010 he received the Liver Transplant Surgery Practice Authorization from the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Turkey.

In 2012, he became an Associate Professor of General Surgery and throughout his academic career, he served as the Head of the Department of General Surgery at Istanbul Science University and as a manager at the liver transplant centers of the Florence Nightingale Hospitals Group. He also served on the Young Transplant Professionals committee of the European Society for Organ Transplantation (ESOT) and the Basic Science committee of the International Society for Liver Transplantation. In 2017, he received the Basic Microsurgery Certificate from the Society for Reconstructive Microsurgery.

He currently serves as a Professor in the Department of General Surgery at Istanbul Medipol University International Faculty of Medicine and as the Director of the Organ Transplantation Center at Medipol Mega University Hospital.

Prof. Dr. Dayangaç's clinical work focuses particularly on living donor liver transplantation, donor safety, liver tumors, and improving post-transplantation outcomes. He also conducts multicenter studies aimed at better understanding the developmental mechanisms of liver diseases by combining his clinical surgical experience with basic science research. His research focuses on the development of fibrosis in the liver, the progression of chronic liver diseases, and the biological basis of liver cancer. These studies aim to contribute to the early diagnosis of diseases, the prediction of their progression, and the development of more effective treatment methods in the future through research conducted at the cellular, genetic, and molecular levels.
