Highlights
"Prof. Murat Ekin, MD, was born in Ankara in 1968. He completed his medical education at Ankara University Faculty of Medicine in 1992 and his specialization in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Ankara Zekai Tahir Burak Women's Health Training and Research Hospital in 1997, earning the title of Obstetrics and Gynecology Specialist. His specialization thesis focused on tumor markers in cyst fluid in ovarian cancers.
Following his specialization, he worked as a chief assistant at Ankara Zekai Tahir Burak Women's Health Training and Research Hospital until 2006. Subsequently, he worked at Istanbul Bakırköy Dr. Sadi Konuk Training and Research Hospital, where he became assistant clinical chief and lecturer in 2011, and received the title of Associate Professor in 2013. As an Affiliate of the same Hospital, he received the title of Professor from the University of Health Sciences in 2020 and served as clinical administrative and education officer.
He worked as a chief assistant at Zekai Tahir Burak Women's Health and Education Research Hospital, specializing in Reproductive Endocrinology, Infertility, IVF, Menopause and Family Planning, as well as Gynecology-Urogynecology clinics. In 2003, he served as an international clinical observer in the field of in vitro fertilization at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). Between 2006 and 2025, during his tenure at Istanbul Bakırköy Dr. Sadi Konuk Training and Research Hospital, he received training and certifications in robotic surgery at IRCAD France in 2009 and advanced gynecological endoscopy training at Covidien training center in France in 2012.
He has extensive experience in the diagnosis and surgical treatment of all gynecological diseases, particularly pelvic floor disorders, genital organ prolapse, urinary incontinence, as well as structural abnormalities of the uterus, uterine-preserving surgery for fibroids, endometriosis, and adenomyosis, through vaginal, endoscopic (laparoscopy-robotic surgery-hysteroscopy-vNOTES scarless vaginal surgery) minimally invasive surgery, and in the diagnosis and surgical treatment of placental adhesion disorders and bleeding conditions during pregnancy.
Prof. Murat Ekin is a member of numerous national and international Gynecology and Obstetrics associations and has over 200 articles and presentations published in high-level scientific journals and conferences, as well as numerous book chapters. His scientific publications have received over 3000 citations. His article on the treatment of female organ prolapse with vNOTES (vaginal scarless laparoscopy), published in the Asian Journal of Endoscopic Surgery, won the award for the most cited article in 2025.
He currently continues his medical practice, education, and research activities in the field of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Medipol Mega Hospital and the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Istanbul Medipol University.
