Prof. Dr. ONUR YAPRAK

Prof. Onur Yaprak, MD was born in Alaca in 1972. He completed his medical education at Ege University Faculty of Medicine in 1995. He completed his General Surgery specialization at Ege University Faculty of Medicine Hospital in 2002, earning the title of General Surgery Specialist.

His specialization thesis was on "The Effect of N-Acetyl-Cysteine ​​on Liver Regeneration in Rats Undergoing 2/3 Hepatectomy".

Following his specialization, he worked as a General Surgery Specialist at Ege University Faculty of Medicine Hospital. In 2003, he was transferred to Eskişehir Sivrihisar State Hospital, where he served until 2005, after which he was transferred to Afyonkarahisar State Hospital. In 2007, Onur Yaprak left his position at Afyonkarahisar State Hospital to work in the field of liver surgery, which he loved very much, and joined the Liver Transplantation, Liver, Biliary Tract and Pancreatic Surgery team at Istanbul Florence Nightingale Hospital.

In 2010, Dr. Yaprak spent three months as a visiting surgeon at the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA)

David Geffen School of Medicine, Ronald Reagan Medical Center, to conduct scientific research and enhance his professional experience.

After receiving the title of Associate Professor at Florence Nightingale Hospital in 2013, she continued her academic career and established the Yeditepe University Liver Transplant Center in Istanbul in 2016. She served as the director of this center until the end of 2017. Since October 2017, she has been working as the Director of the Liver Transplant Center at Istanbul Medipol University. Dr. Yaprak received the title of Professor in 2019.

Professor Dr. Onur Yaprak, in his 20-year career in Liver Surgery and Liver Transplantation, has participated in approximately 1500 liver transplant operations and conducted long-term clinical follow-ups of these patients.

He has published scientific articles in 34 international and 13 national peer-reviewed journals, and presented papers at 41 international and 33 national congresses. His scientific work has received a total of 627 citations.

Professor Dr. Onur Yaprak is a member of the "National Surgical Society" and the "Turkish Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Surgery Society".

The "standard median superior incision" technique, developed by Professor Dr. Onur Yaprak to perform liver transplants from living donors with the smallest possible incision, minimizes the problem of surgical scarring for liver transplant donors and significantly improves their quality of life.
