Highlights
Prof. Pelin Karaaslan, MD was born in 1972 in Adana. She completed her medical education in 1996 at Marmara University, English Medical Faculty. She obtained her specialization in Anesthesiology and Reanimation in 2004 at Başkent University Faculty of Medicine, Ankara Hospital, earning the title of Anesthesiology and Reanimation Specialist.
She prepared her specialty thesis on “Comparison of continuous spinal, continuous epidural, and general anesthesia methods in elderly patients undergoing hip replacement surgery.
After completing her specialization, she worked as an Anesthesiology and Reanimation Specialist at Başkent University Faculty of Medicine, Ankara Hospital, and in 2007 served as the operating room lead anesthesiologist at Ankara HRS Women’s Health and Maternity Hospital. Between 2010 and 2012, Dr. Pelin Karaaslan was the responsible specialist for operating rooms and intensive care at Antalya Medline Hospital. In 2012, she started her position as an assistant professor at Istanbul Medipol University.
After receiving the title of Associate Professor at Istanbul Medipol University in 2018, she continued her academic career and was appointed as a full professor at the same institution in 2024. Her main areas of interest include liver and kidney transplant surgeries for both donors and recipients, resuscitation and first aid, painless childbirth, all surgeries related to gynecological diseases, and airway surgeries. She is an active instructor for ERC-Turkish RD Basic and Advanced Life Support courses.
Prof. Pelin Karaaslan, MD is a member of the European Resuscitation Council, Turkish Resuscitation Society, ERAS Society, ARUD, Turkish Society of Cardiothoracic Anesthesia, Turkish Society of Anesthesiology and Reanimation, and Turkish Society of Intensive Care.
