Prof. Dr. SEMA ANAK

Prof. Sema Anak, MD graduated from Istanbul University Faculty of Medicine in 1981. She continued her education in the field of Pediatrics at Istanbul University; she developed her career particularly in the fields of Pediatric Hematology, Pediatric Oncology, and Bone Marrow Transplantation.

 Between 1986 and 1987, she worked as a senior assistant in the Department of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology at Istanbul University Faculty of Medicine. In 1987–1988, she participated in a fellowship program at the Hematology/Bone Marrow Transplantation Unit of the Royal Free Hospital and Medical School, University of London, with a British Council scholarship.

 In 1989, she became an Associate Professor in the Department of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology at Istanbul University Faculty of Medicine, and in 1996, she received the title of Professor of Pediatric Hematology. She obtained her Pediatric Hematology certificate in 1995 and her Pediatric Oncology certificate in 1999.

 Between 1989 and 1995, she served as a faculty member at the Department of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology, Istanbul Faculty of Medicine, Istanbul University, and co-directed Turkey's first pediatric bone marrow transplantation center. From 2004 to 2012, she served as the founder and director of the Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Bone Marrow Transplantation Unit at the same institution.

 As part of her international academic experience, she was a visiting professor at the Children's Hospital of the University of Sydney in 2001 and at St. Jude Hospital & Pediatric Oncology Research Center in the USA in 2002, under the ""Outreach Programme"" fellowship.

 Prof. Sema Anak, MD, who conducted her academic and clinical studies at the Department of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology, Istanbul Faculty of Medicine, Istanbul University between 2000 and 2014, has been working in the field of Pediatrics, Hematology/Oncology/Bone Marrow Transplantation at Medipol University Faculty of Medicine since 2014.

 Prof. Sema Anak, MD is a member of numerous national and international scientific organizations, including EBMT, European Hematology Association (EHA), Society of International Pediatric Oncology (SIOP), Histiocyte Society, Turkish Society of Hematology, Turkish Pediatric Oncology Group, and Turkish Pediatric Hematology Association.

 Her scientific work includes 9 articles published in international peer-reviewed journals, 8 presentations at international scientific meetings published in proceedings, 24 articles published in national peer-reviewed journals, and 40 presentations at national scientific meetings.

 She is fluent in English and French.
