Spec. Dr. (Specialist Dr.) GÜLCE COŞKU YILMAZ ÇAKAN

Dr. Gülce Coşku Yılmaz Çakan was born on July 31, 1991, in Kocaeli, Turkey. She completed her primary, secondary, and high school education in Kocaeli and graduated from Dokuz Eylül University Faculty of Medicine in 2015, earning her medical degree.

Between 2015 and 2016, she worked as a general practitioner at Derince Training and Research Hospital. In 2021, she completed her neurology residency at Atatürk Training and Research Hospital, İzmir Katip Çelebi University, becoming a certified neurologist. After fulfilling her compulsory government service at Torbalı State Hospital, she began working as a neurologist at Medical Point Hospital, İzmir University of Economics.

From 2024 to 2025, she served as an Assistant Professor of Neurology at İzmir University of Economics, participating in teaching and educational activities.

With a focus on specialization in dementia and movement disorders, she enrolled in the Clinical Master’s Program in Behavioral Neurology and Movement Disorders at the Behavioral Neurology and Movement Disorders Unit, Istanbul University Faculty of Medicine, where she continues her studies.

Dr. Çakan has clinical experience in diagnostic methods for dementia and movement disorders, medical treatments for Parkinson’s disease, advanced device-assisted therapies in late-stage Parkinson’s (apomorphine pump, levodopa–carbidopa intestinal gel, and deep brain stimulation), and current therapies for Alzheimer’s disease.

As of December 2025, she continues patient care at the Parkinson’s Disease and Movement Disorders Center (PARMER), Medipol University, further developing her knowledge, skills, and expertise in behavioral neurology and movement disorders.

Dr. Gülce Coşku Yılmaz Çakan has published articles in national and international journals, contributed chapters to books, presented numerous conference papers, and is actively involved in ongoing scientific projects.
