What do we treat?
In our department, all types of congenital heart and vascular diseases are successfully treated in premature newborns as well as in older infants and children. Limited incisions and in the suitable cases, minimally invasive procedures are generally preferred in order to achieve better cosmetic outcomes for patients.
At Medipol Mega University Hospital, we are able to offer our patients all cardiovascular surgery applications performed around the world. These include a wide range of procedures, from coronary artery diseases in adults and bypass surgery (CABG), to valve repair or replacement surgeries for rheumatic or acquired valve diseases; from aortic aneurysm and dissection surgeries to endovascular aortic repairs (EVAR), hybrid interventions performed in collaboration with the cardiology department and arrhythmia surgeries. Our Cardiovascular Surgery hospital also has the extensive expertise, technical infrastructure and capacity to perform all healthcare applications and surgical procedures for children and elderly patients.
Peripheral arterial diseases (occlusions and stenoses) and varicose vein surgeries performed using laser-radiofrequency techniques are also successfully carried out in our department.
Peripheral arterial diseases (occlusions and stenoses) and varicose vein surgeries performed using laser-radiofrequency techniques are also successfully carried out in our department. In addition, cardiac and vascular injuries resulting from all types of trauma are treated rapidly and when necessary, care is provided in collaboration with other specialties (such as orthopedics, plastic surgery, etc.).

Technology
Robotic Heart Surgery
Robotic surgery is being used at an increasing rate worldwide in the treatment of cardiovascular diseases. Medipol Mega University Hospital has made this technology available to patients at the same time as the rest of the world and with the highest level of expertise. Surgeries performed using robotic techniques offer a significant advantage due to increased patient comfort and faster recovery. After robotic heart surgeries, the surgical incision is very small, at around 2-3 cm. As a result, compared to traditional surgeries, patients experience less pain, lower risk of infection and a reduced need for blood transfusions. Hospital stays are shorter and postoperative patient comfort remains at a high level. After successfully performed robotic heart surgeries, patients can return to their normal lives much faster compared to those who have undergone traditional surgeries.
Aortic Surgery
With increased surgical experience and significant technological advancements, the goal now is to perform heart surgeries through smaller incisions without opening the chest cavity. For nearly twenty years, heart surgeries through small incision have been successfully performed worldwide and in our country. In heart surgeries through small incision, a small incision is made under the breast, allowing access to the heart through the spaces between the ribs. With this method, successfully performed at our hospital with high success rates, our patients achieve maximum comfort during and after surgery while largely avoiding the risks associated with traditional surgical procedures.
Heart Valve Surgery
Don’t Replace, Have It Repaired
Long-term mitral valve leakage due to mitral valve disease can lead to serious complications and even death. At our hospital, mitral valve repair can be performed with a high success rate in patients with mitral valve insufficiency. It is known that repairing the valve in cases of mitral valve insufficiency (leakage) has far better outcomes than replacing it with a mechanical or bioprosthetic valve. Repairing the mitral valve is recognized worldwide as the most effective treatment, as it preserves heart function, eliminates the need for blood-thinning medications and provides greater resistance to infections. Our hospital has an expert academic team, recognized as a reference in their field and is equipped with the latest facilities to perform these operations.
