In conventional mammography, a two-dimensional image is obtained. With Flat Panel Detector and Tomosynthesis, millimeter-thick sections of the breast are captured, the breast is compressed less during imaging, and a three-dimensional image is produced. This allows the internal structure of the breast to be visualized more clearly, helping to avoid unnecessary biopsies and surgeries.
